This is the entry level position of the administrative hierarchy.
This position typically supports multiple managers and serves in a non-exempt capacity.
This particular position is the Administrative Assistant for Hydro West and is based at the Bad Creek Hydro Station.
The Administrative Assistant for Hydro West supports multiple managers and supervisors for 11 hydroelectric sites located in the South Carolina Upstate and throughout Western NC.
Hydro West includes Bad Creek, Jocassee, Thorpe, Tuckasegee, Tennessee Creek, Bear Creek, Cedar Cliff, Nantahala, Queens Creek, Walters and Marshall hydroelectric sites.
Renewable Energy is an exciting and growing part of Duke Energy's Building a Smarter Energy Future, and the modernization and expansion of hydroelectric generation is a key component of our strategy.
As such, the Administrative Assistant will not only support the Leadership responsible for day-to-day operations and maintenance but will also interface and support the general public that use our hydroelectric reservoirs for recreation and contractors that execute work for O&M and Capital projects at the various sites.
Hydro West staff works a 4x10 hr.
schedule Monday thru Thursday but must also be available for overtime when situations typical of a public utility arise.
Start time will be 7:
00 am.
The successful candidate must be a great teammate with excellent customer service attributes that can independently follow policy to execute the normal responsibilities defined in this requisition.
Responsibilities Uses business software applications (e.
g.
Word, PowerPoint, Excel) to prepare correspondence, reports, presentations, agendas, minutes, etc.
Receives, screens and directs incoming calls, visitors, mail and e-mail.
Maintains files and calendars.
May arrange business travel, coordinate meeting arrangements, and/or track expenses.
Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office suite applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.
Effective oral and written communications skills.
Ability to effectively interface with multiple levels across a department, e.
g.
managers, supervisors, employees.
Strong computer skills Required/Basic Qualifications High School/GED degree Additional Preferred Qualifications 2 years related work experience.
Strong computer skills Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office suite applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.
Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
Demonstrated ability to communicate (both written and oral) in a clear, concise and effective manner.

Working Conditions Onsite Mobility Classification Performs work in normal office environment.
May be required to provide assistance in multiple areas as needed at the various hydroelectric sites.
Position is located at the Bad Creek Warehouse in the HYDW Administrative Offices.
Prolong sitting at desk/computer.
May be required to travel for training and/or assistance at other sites and may be required to work overtime.
